Among the hundreds of questions discussed at the International Forum in Milan (28-29 November), according to us there was a common key element: sustainability of the resources of the Earth, for a common goal: availability of food for all by looking at the paradoxes of the global food system.
We advise to read Eating Planet 2012, the first global report on food and nutrition by the Barilla Center for Food & Nutrition, in collaboration with the Worldwatch Institute.
The report try to describe how to make a more sustainable food system to help the protection of the environemt, save resources and reduce wastes of food. The book emphatizes the nutrition that help people maintain good health over the long term. How? Within the great culinary traditions, it’s possible to rediscover the ingredients for healthy, fair, and convivial eating.
Most of the studies tell us that to satisfy 7 billions of people we would need 1 planet and half, and within 20 years we would need 3 planets. We keep that in mind!
