American coffee in Milan, Italy

Does Italy need Starbucks  or other American coffee chains ?

We were shocked at the announcement that the Seattle based coffee chain Starbucks wants to open its first shop in Milan early next year.

Italy is worldwide known for its espresso and cappuccino. Now more and more American coffee chains like this “Arnold Coffee” seen in Milan are opening in Italy.

Do we really need frappuccino & lattèèèè ?

We at ByItaly don’t think so. We stick with our espresso.

Starbucks founder Howard Schultz was inspired by Italy’s coffee bars when he opened his first shop in the 1980s. Now the chain is listed at the stock exchange and has 22 000 outlets in 67 countries. Now he is coming back to attack the home of the espresso.
