Italians are catholic (most of them). And Italians love their saints (a lot of them).
But did you know that almost all saints in Italy have their own special signature dish ?
Italian food varies and so do the dishes of the saints. In Perugia (the city of ByItaly) it was “San Costanzo” the patron of the city in Umbria. And for San Costanzo you eat a secial round cake (“torcolo”) named after the saint which protects the city.
I guess, a lot of people in Perugia don’t know what this saint ever did to become one. But you bet they know what you eat on San Costanzo day !
Italian food and sainthood – we knew they belong together.
