“The new record for the longest pizza in the world is 1,596.45 meters”, said Lorenzo Veltri, Guinness World Records Judge, upon declaring the new world record, established today at Expo Milano 2015, breaking the  previous one by the Spaniards who stopped at 1141.5 meters in 2011.

The pizza, made with two and a half tons of dough and seasoned with 1.5 tons of tomato sauce and 1.7 tons of mozzarella, 150 liters of oil, using only made in Italy products, was cooked in five special ovens using as many as 800 steel tables arranged as a horseshoe along the Decumano.

The slices of pizza were distributed to all visitors of the Universal Exhibition at the end of the measurement operations.
